The capacity of the stations of the railway junction at the port of Ust-Luga (Leningrad Region) can grow by almost 50% by 2021, Interfax reports with reference to Russian Railways corporate television.

The project for the reconstruction of the Mga-Gatchina-Weimarn-Ivangorod section and railway approaches to ports on the Gulf of Finland has been implemented since 2005. It involves strengthening the electrification of the Mga-Gatchina section, lengthening the pick-up and drop-off tracks at 19 stations, introducing continuous second main tracks, building a railway bypassing Kotly station, electrifying a number of sections of the railway, building a new Luzhskaya-Sortirovochnaya station to receive transit trains, five pre-port stations of the port of Ust-Luga (Luga-North, Luga-South, Luga-Oil, Luga-General and Luga-East), as well as connecting routes between them.
